Providence Health & Services Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist in Milwaukie, Oregon


Providence is calling a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Milwaukie, Oregon. This is a part-time (32 hours per week), benefited, night shift position. Schedule is Friday, midnight to 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Saturday 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Sunday, and Sunday 8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.

We are seeking a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist who will perform CT examinations according to physicians orders, utilizing sophisticated CT equipment, taking into account individual patients special or age-related needs. Utilizes knowledge and judgment in regard to imaging factors, imaging technique and patient treatment needed to produce optimal images.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Competently operate CT equipment, determines and sets imaging factors and manipulates software utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates.

  • Produce and present images and related, pertinent patient information to physician for diagnosis. Provides for high quality diagnostic CT images by preparing and administering various contrast mixtures.

  • Assist physicians with procedures.

  • Review patients charts and orders to ensure correct examination.

  • Adjust equipment to achieve optimal resolution, performs regular maintenance testing, informing lead/manager of need for outside repair.

  • Stock examination rooms with supplies. Notifies appropriate personnel for reordering.

  • Function as part of the rotational 'on-call' staff providing timely, high quality CT services after normal working hours, as required.

  • Performs quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function.

  • Provide respect for patient modesty by proper transportation of patients on and off tables and sees that patients are properly clothed and covered during the examination.

  • Maintain awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs.

  • Communicate and uses knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to insure appropriate and effective care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Evaluate patients for signs of allergic reactions following administration of contrast media, as well as completing the appropriate contrast consent forms.

  • Technologist perform point of care testing.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.

  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)(R) certification

  • Current Oregon licensure.

  • ARRT (CT) certification required upon hire, or within six months of employment.

  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) certification.
