Providence Health & Services Cook in Milwaukie, Oregon
Providence is calling a Cook to Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Milwaukie, Oregon. This is an on call, variable shift position.
We are seeking a Cook who will provide courteous, friendly food service to patients, employees, visitors, and physicians by preparing hot and cold food items using a variety of prep and production cooking equipment, following scratch recipes and department specifications. They must comply with all hospital and department standards and must become fully knowledgeable about and compliant with all specific regulatory requirements in food service and in a health care environment.
This is a lead position when the manager or coordinator are not available.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Prep, prepare and produce large quantities of entrées, starches, vegetables, soups, sauces, sandwiches, fryer items, specialty features, and salads on a daily basis from a cycle menu
Organize, stock, clean, and replenish food display areas and storage ensuring proper food storage temperatures and rotation
Prepare individual plates/orders according to customer preferences, preparing both hot and cold menu selections, and using a variety of different cooking equipment
Read and follow recipes as directed by department standards
Be able to trouble shoot food and recipe issues when reviewing next day menu
Must interpret and anticipate potential problems or errors and work with their coordinator and manager to find appropriate solutions
Daily and consistently organize, stock, label and date all stored items
Constantly clean, sanitize food areas and equipment including production, service and all appropriate storage areas
Ensure food is stored at proper temperatures and is rotated as per department standards and FIFO principle
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- Equivalent
Valid County Health Department Food Handlers Certificate or ServSafe Certification
Two (2) years Working in a restaurant or institutional food service facility, working in a production cooking capacity
Experience with prepping and portioning of food items
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Diversified cooking experience which includes any combination of line/grill/broiler cook, production cook or soup or sauté cook
