Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Manager, Regional Clinical Informatics PSJH to Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City, OR.

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Regional Clinical Informatics to be responsible in collaboration with the Directors and Medical Informatics for collaborative implementation, support, and on-going optimization of clinical informatics, Caring Reliably framework, IS strategy and other organizational commitments. As a partner for clinical transformation and in collaboration with the GVPs Clinical Nursing Informatics, CI Regional Directors, ministry Nurse Executives and other clinical and physician leaders, the Sr. Manager, Regional Clinical Informatics manages staff performance in informatics initiatives with an emphasis on information technology and services to support nursing and interdisciplinary care partners in the areas of practice, clinical applications, clinical/administrative decision-making, research and quality improvement initiatives, education, and resource management. He/she combines knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts, and change management to effectively represent the information and knowledge needs and requirements of healthcare professionals and patients and to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of information technology in clinical settings. Scope may include acute care, ambulatory care, and post-acute care settings in designated areas of service. This role has responsibilities and authority broader in scope due to an area of higher strategic importance and helps to set broader goals for the group. The Sr. Manager is responsible to work across functions with peers in other groups to ensure collaboration for shared goals and works with senior management and other peers on strategy development and execution planning.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

Strategy Development and Alignment: Collaboration

  • Manage the delivery of Providence St. Joseph Health clinical systems strategy in collaboration with other nursing/clinical and medical informatics and operational leaders.

  • Facilitate the PSJH vision for informatics at the local level.

  • Maintain relationships with key business partners and other senior industry leaders in order to leverage best practices, evaluate emerging technologies, and distribute knowledge internally to inform plans and strategies.

  • Work with vendors to proactively identify local needs and/or enhancement of clinical information system solutions to meet PSJH business needs.

  • Work with IS Strategy and Business Development in researching and evaluating the effectiveness of technologies that impact clinical users.

Management and Leadership

  • Act as a change agent working with nursing and clinical leadership teams in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of overall informatics strategies to support quality patient care and professional practice in local area of responsibility adhering to system standards.

  • Serve as a informatics consultant at the ministry or regional levels.

  • Incorporate research and evidence-based knowledge into informatics practice.

  • Collaborate to identify educational opportunities and ensures clear and adequate communication of team activities and ensuring use of standardized educational materials.

  • Assist with the coordination of end user go live and ongoing support of new processes and system use.

  • Demonstrate ability to take on new responsibilities and grow in progressive and higher levels of management and leadership in the organization .

Operations

  • Attract, hire, train, motivate, retain, and develop a team of first-rate professionals to perform the responsibilities of nursing/clinical informaticists.

  • Provide mentorship in informatics for service area/ministry-based informaticsts new in their role.

  • Assist to adhere to budgeting and expenditures for Nursing/Clinical Informatics service area/ministry-based services.

  • Manage to the adherence of the PSJH clinical systems strategy in collaboration with the Directors, Nursing and Medical Informatics.

  • Provide local informatics leadership and program management for the collaborative development, implementation, support and on-going optimization of PSJH clinical information systems.

  • Maintain current knowledge of major clinical information systems and electronic health record applications.

  • Assist in coordinating training of end users as needed.

  • Manage interdisciplinary teams to develop clinical data/documentation and workflow standardization to be used enterprise-wide.

  • Facilitate the model for managing nursing/clinical requests for changes to clinical information systems; with Directors, Clinical and Medical Informatics, coordinates area clinical systems governance activities.

  • Team with the Business Continuity team for downtime and disaster recovery projects, policies and procedures and participates in disaster drills for clinical applications.

Standards of Performance

  • Actively support and incorporate the mission and core values of PSJH in daily activities and interactions with all others.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, employees, and as appropriate, other information as required by Federal, State, and Company compliance policies.

  • Ensure compliance in self and team with mandatory system training and education efforts.

  • Consistently demonstrate and incorporate principles of safety and infection control into daily activities as outlined in system and department safety policies/procedures.

Customer Service

  • Develop and collaborate, using data, on individual and team objectives and capacities in the creation, definition, and advancement/support of new and existing standard operating procedures (SOP) and service level agreements (SLA) consistent with PSJH management, IS, and CI priorities with the goal of providing and maintaining excellent, realistic customer service.

  • Measure and report on individual and team objectives/SOPs/SLAs as required/requested by CI and IS leadership.

  • Advocate for and support a collaborative and just work environment that maintains and augments employee engagement and satisfaction with a career at PSJH.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Informatics, BA, Health Care Administration, Public Administration or related healthcare field.

  • Eight (8) years related experience.

  • Six (6) years Leadership experience.

  • If an RN, Active license as a Registered Nurse by the affiliated State Board of Nursing of the State where the position exists.

  • Active license or certification to practice as a clinician is required if applicable (Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapists, Dietitian, Clinical Social Worker, Respiratory Therapist).

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Informatics, BA, Health Care Administration, Public Administration or related healthcare field.

  • Informatics certifications or credentialing is preferred, and may be equivalent for up to 2 years of experience for this position at the hiring manger’s discretion

  • Certifications/Licensures: RN, Certification in Informatics and Epic Certification 1 or more applications.
